How difficult is Poon Hill Trek?
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a moderate trek. This trek is regarded as one of the easiest treks in the Himalayas because of its gentle pace and low altitude. However, do not mistake, even known as the easiest trek, the trail still has steep terrain and takes you to around 3,200 meters. This is what easy means in the Himalayas.
Any healthy individual can go on Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking. The trek does not demand strong physical fitness or previous trekking experience. You have to walk 6 to 7 hours on average on a daily basis. We recommend you to do some activities like cycling, hiking, etc that increase the stamina and core strength of the body before the beginning of the trek.
Altitude Sickness
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is relatively a low altitude trek. The highest point of the trek is 3,210 meters, where you will be spending hardly an hour or two. Therefore, the chances of altitude sickness or also known as acute mountain sickness is pretty low to none.
Our experienced and trained crew members will keep you accompanied throughout the trek and make sure you do not get altitude sickness. Drink at least two litres of water daily, and do not consume any alcoholic drinks or smoke. Some early symptoms of altitude sickness are breathing problems, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, and insomnia.
Best time to go on Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek
Ideal weather is important to have the best time while trekking in the Himalayas. March to April (spring) and October to November (autumn) is the best time of the year to go on the Poon Hill Trek.
If you love flowers and birds, then spring is the perfect time to go on Poon Hill Trekking. Likewise, during the autumn season, you may get to see the biggest festivals in Nepal. The average temperature fluctuates from 15°C to 25°C.
Accommodation & Meals during the trek
You will stay overnight in the lodge during the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek 7 Days. You will get most of the facilities like a hot shower, private washroom, and WiFi in the lodge. Some places might ask you a few extra bucks for WiFi and a hot shower. Likewise, the rooms are generally small in size with twin sharing beds..
The meals are provided, as per the menu of the lodge. You will get three meals a day during the trek and breakfast, welcome dinner & farewell dinner in Kathmandu. While trekking, you can see a wide range of dishes on the menu, from rice, veggies, curries, chapati to soup, steak, pasta, pizza, etc. Similarly, for breakfast, you can expect porridge, toast, egg, cornflakes, oats, tea, coffee, etc.
Trekking Permits for the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek needs two permits, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit and TIMS Card (Trekker’s Information Management System). Do know both permits are for a single entry, and once the permit is issued, it is non-refundable or transferable.
You can get these permits from Nepal Tourism Board Office on Pradarshani Marg, Kathmandu, Nepal Tourism Board Service Center in Damside, or at the ACAP entry permit counter in Besisahar, Lamjung.
ACAP try permit fee for foreigners: Nrs. 3,000 (Approx. USD 30)
ACAP entry permit fee for SAARC nationals: Nrs. 200
TIMS permit: 1,000 NPR (Approx. US $10)

Travel Insurance
It is always good to have travel insurance as a backup while trekking in the Himalayas. With the best effort, things can take a turn and having travel insurance will make sure you get any emergency assistance immediately.
